First it started with a bite. Then a slice. Then a small cake.

One of my favorite girls in the world, Meggy, introduced me to Monarch Cakeshop‘s chocolate kugelhopf.
Life was never the same after that.
I often dragged Elmer and the kids to St Kilda just to eat this cake.
I’m sure the kids didn’t need any pushing. But that kept Elmer silently mortified.
Until I chanced upon this magical recipe from the Monday Morning Cooking Club: Chocolate Yeast Kugelhopf.
I tried making it just four days after delivering Kiko. It was the best thing to get me out of bed and start baking again.
I was blown. Away.
I ate about 1/3 of the whole cake!
Perfect with coffee. Of course I have to skip that pleasure for now.
I think Kiko loved it too. He looked happy to me.
